What’s my story?

I’m Blake Noble, and as long as I can recall I’ve harboured an immense interest in all things’ road transport, and more so a fascination with what’s moving where, how, and why.

After a 15-year career within a family business in the medical device industry and time spent working in an independent business advisory capacity, I had short but life-changing stint at the University of Michigan. Following this, in 2015, I took the leap and pursued that passion for transport, purchasing Transcon Warkworth, a 45-year-old provincial transport operation based just north of Auckland.

Pushing further into road transport, early in 2022 I became a director of Halls Group, a large nationwide cold chain logistics provider.

My (very) hands-on experience with Transcon saw me acquire a business with great bones, excellent regional focus, some very longstanding customer relationships, and a legacy on which to build and develop.

What I also found was a business in need of some new energy, a technology overhaul, a brand in need of a reboot, and a general refocusing of the trajectory the business would take over the next 45 years.

With a strong business development and systems background, considerable use of these skills has gone into shaping what is today an optimised, tech-heavy, customer-focused, and agile road-freighting machine that prides itself on the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction (as validated by ongoing customer surveys). I’ve got plenty of bumps and bruises from the trials and tribulations of the journey thus far and work on the premise that if you never try, you’ll never know!

The ability to provide more than a simple A-to-B service to our diverse customer group is what gets me out of bed every day; knowing that our team play a critical part in getting our customer’s product to market, be that across the region, or across the globe, is something I’m extremely proud of and passionate about.

It’s the interactions with these great provincial New Zealand businesses that has fuelled my desire to embark on emulating this growth and learning alongside the owners & operators of other provincial transport businesses wanting to push the bounds and proactively develop and grow (or recalibrate) their organisations.

Beyond my business interests, I’m a keen advocate for the road transport industry (you can read about some of these activities here and volunteer in several community programmes, with a particular focus on youth learning and development via the First Foundation and Young Enterprise.

And being the father to a truck-mad toddler means that I get to spend just as much time playing with trucks away from the office as I do in it!

Over and out,
